Hello! My name is Katie Kim. I am a freshman in GITA 1.
My future educational goals are to continue developing my academic skills while improving my problem-solving and time management abilities through learning how to code. I want to explore computer science concepts, challenge myself with new projects, and build skills that will help me succeed in higher education and future careers.
As a high school freshman, my educational goal is to strengthen
my science and math background while using coding to develop
problem-solving and time management skills. I plan to use these
skills to succeed in advanced coursework and eventually pursue
a medical career as an orthopedic surgeon.
I am participating in lot of clubs on campus. Clubs I am most actively involved in are Academic Decathlon, HOSA, and Jazz Club. I also do community service at my church. My church is a small Korean church, so I manage the technical aspects of church services, including setting up audio-visual equipment and coordinating presentation slides for worship songs.
GITA, also known as Global Information Technology Academy, is a 4-year computer science program offered in BOHS. Coding languages such as C# (Visual Studio) and HTML are taught. Even those who aren't familiar with coding can start from the basics and find interest in the computer science field. In GITA 1, our projects are mostly done in Visual Studio.
